Our program was helping Keith Sterzing figure out why he can't get on the internet.
The following showed up for the meeting: Don Kassebaum, Rodney McNeel, Keith Sterzing, George Wyche and Bo Zimmerman. This is therapy for Don and he made a real effort to get here only 1 month after bypass surgery. His clothes sure look baggy on him! This explains his absence at Bo's last month.
Keith set the thing up, but had forgotten a power strip. He was able to check one out over in the library next door. Slowed us down. Our 1st suggestion was to update using Boing Bag 1 to fix Genesis Preferences, the TCP/IP layer, separate preferences program. We were able to get to it through Genesis proper. It was harder for us to help because of Keith's Dvorak keyboard so he had to do all the typing. His major problem turned out to be his various, previous attempts to provide a PPP script to log into io.com. By default every one of them got names PPP. There were 7 PPP lines. He kept selecting the 1st one in the list when in fact the last one in the list was his most recent entry attempt. We had him delete all the usurpers and urged him to rename the PPP with unique mnemonics to tell them a part. Here at the history center you have to dial 9 to get "out" which will be different when he gets back home.
Another unexplained thing is that his Genesis icon is a small square. We suspected DefIcons and spent time wondering about that. It all looked correct. Genesis (or was it AWeb) had added stuff to his s:user-startup which we had to adjust the order of.
Just before we ran out of time we got AWeb throwing up URLs and so declared success for now. I ran the power strip back to the library and joined Don, Keith, Charlie and Bo at Conan's. Don was a good boy and ate only a salad, though he looked like he could use something that would stick to his slats. His daughter, Tamara, picked him up. Docs say he can drive after his physical rehab is complete, whenever.
