George brought a run down of the main events of AmiWest being held next weekend in California for us to pine over. He also brought a printout of Bill McEwen's response to yet an additional 25 questions as part of an interview for The Temple of Technology.
John had stories to tell about hiking above 10,000 feet in Colorado for a week -- cold, snowy, breath-taking, but the hike back was all downhill.
George thanked Charlie for his representing the City of Austin are the last Hyde Park Neighborhood Association meeting. Charlie filled us in on more public use issues.
Mark talked about the underwater rover his company builds. Mark does programming for it, but it would sure be nice to have the hardware here in Austin!
George asked Mark about pattern recognition stuff from his last job, intimating that a small consultant job might be in the offing.
The program for the evening showed off X11R6.3 window manager for the Amiga. In this last week Edgar Schwan release his port (continued port) of The GIMP of OpenSource Linux fame. Since no plug-ins have yet been ported, Mr. Schwan encouraged us all to try ImageMagik (ported by Nicolas Mendoza) which can read native GIMP format (.xcf) and output most any common picture type. George got it and brought it along, too.
The result of our playing with it this evening is here. We adjourned at 9:15pm.
Outside we stood around talking with Sarah Boas until Kathleen Boas showed up to chauffeur her home.
