CTACS General Meeting for March 17, 2008

attendees As I promised Keith we started work on his Amiga3000 using my AmigaOne's crt to work on his YAM misbehavior.

I never even sat at the main table, though I did reach over there to nibble on my pizza slices. I kept my mug of beer next to the keyboard. We suffered through the same delays that we did last month while starting YAM. We set it to redoing its index files for the thousands of email Keith has in his inbox. I got him to promise to move them somewhere else so that only a few dozen files at most sit in the inbox. He has lots of other mail boxes, so making them is not a problem for him.

That worked... after a time! But you are required, as near as I could tell, to repeat the process for each mailbox. I didn't see a place where all of them could be done at once.

Satisfied with that much, Keith wanted to install the now newly released YAM 2.5, so we took the CD I made for him last month and we commenced on that.

At some point, more CTACS members arrived, and when I sensed that some were at the point of departing, I quickly got out my camera, poor as it does in low light, and took this photo. That is the only way I know that attending were: Keith S., David W., Charlie B., Vern G., Chris B., and George W. I have no idea what Vern was showing the rest of the members, I was just too consumed with Keith's A3000 for the time allotted.

The YAM2.5 installation went pretty well. I hadn't done it on anything other than my AmigaOne, so I expected some trouble. The biggest one was the LIBS: search path. We wanted both versions of YAM until Keith believes the new version. I thank David for help with an orderly move of MUI components.

The curious thing was the lack of support for the YAM widgets which were in PNG format. I promised Keith I'd look for why his A3000's software doesn't know how to handle #?.png files.

I looked up and it was just David, Keith and I. Everyone else was gone so I never did get to find about anything else that was going on. "Sorry 'bout that!"
