Celebrating 30 years for the Commodore SX64
"It was day of the Global SX-64 Party, an international celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Commodore SX-64, the world's first color transportable computer." |
Celebrating were Keith Sterzing, Bo Zimmerman, Paul Norrod, Chris Boas (barely visible, but see squirrel pouch in the 2nd image), Glenn Sanger, Kathleen Boas, Carol Wyche, Manual Garcia (behind Charlie), Charlie Boas, and John Herron. George Wyche was behind the camera.
John set up his Commodore SX64 and showed it in action as he explained why it was such a hit at the time AND some about its shortcomings by the standards of 1982. I even completed the 1st level of the original PAC MAN program.
After a bit Bo Zimmerman setup his quite modified Commodore SX64 while he told stories about lugging it around the country for years to do software editing while on the road. This particular unit has a tiny harddisk mounted along the top edge just inside the case with just about every piece of software ever written that computer. Over the years the keyboard was become intermittant and so it was this evening. You'd press a key 5 times to get it to finally be acknowledged. The games that Bo showed was mostly unplayable for that reason... you died trying to FIRE or RUN!
Before the clock got too far past our stated quitting time, John presented the group with a GIANT Commodore cookie for our desert.
